Definitely the weakest of the series, although reading the endnote the concept was promising。 They wanted to show the five different love languages as ways of being friends, but I don't think it came through clearly。 However, my three year old ended up liking it more than the original Lola Dutch because she liked how the pig was sad。 What a masochist! This is my first Lola Dutch book。 I read the author/illustrator bio first, which made me appreciate the book even more。 I imagine the authors' house at times is very similar to Lola's! I also got a vibe of the five love languages as I read; it turns out that's what the Wrights were aiming for! There's a note in the back detailing that。 Sweet illustrations and caring friendships are central to this book。 This is my first Lola Dutch book。 I read the author/illustrator bio first, which made me appreciate the book even more。 I imagine the authors' house at times is very similar to Lola's! Although I've loved other picture books more than this one, I loved the way in which this one was written, and how it could reach children。 Although I've loved other picture books more than this one, I loved the way in which this one was written, and how it could reach children。 。。。more

Lola Dutch shows her friends she loves them by helping them。 They appreciate her, too。Maybe makes Lola Dutch a *little* too responsible for the way others feel? But it is nice to do something nice for others。。。。

Lola does her best to nurture her friends when they are having bad days。 She loves them and wants them to know it。 In return, they throw a surprise party to share how much they love her too。Delightful illustrations that capture the love and friendship。 The text is easy to follow for elementary readers。Positive emphasis on caring for each other。

You can't have the grumps for too long when you've got friends around who love you to bits。 Lola Dutch loves her friends and she doesn't like to see them sad。 So much so, that she builds a book nook for Crane, packs Pig's favourite snacks for the park, and stumbles a bit when it comes to figuring out what Bear's favourite thing is。 But all ends well, because Bear loves Lola Dutch the most。 Awwwww。 And they all throw a party for her。 Fun。 Positive。 Bedtime Reads。 You can't have the grumps for too long when you've got friends around who love you to bits。 Lola Dutch loves her friends and she doesn't like to see them sad。 So much so, that she builds a book nook for Crane, packs Pig's favourite snacks for the park, and stumbles a bit when it comes to figuring out what Bear's favourite thing is。 But all ends well, because Bear loves Lola Dutch the most。 Awwwww。 And they all throw a party for her。 Fun。 Positive。 Bedtime Reads。 。。。more

A lovely story of how one friend loves her friends well by taking an interest in their likes and helping them feel better。 In return, Lola's friends recognize how she sacrificially loves them, and do something for her。 A lovely story of how one friend loves her friends well by taking an interest in their likes and helping them feel better。 In return, Lola's friends recognize how she sacrificially loves them, and do something for her。 。。。more

This story of Lola Dutch, and the love she has for her friends was inspired by Gary Chapman's theory of the five love languages。 Lola Dutch expresses and displays a love language for each one of her friends, and they in-turn do the same for her。 This story of Lola Dutch, and the love she has for her friends was inspired by Gary Chapman's theory of the five love languages。 Lola Dutch expresses and displays a love language for each one of her friends, and they in-turn do the same for her。 。。。more

Lola Dutch bends over backwards cheering up her grumpy, anthropomorphic friends, solidifying the anti-feminist notion that young girls should be raised to please ✨✨But seriously, the third installment in the Wrights’ Lola Dutch series is a super sweet tribute to friendship。 When Lola realizes that none of her friends are in good spirits, she finds thoughtful ways—á la Gary Chapman’s 5 love languages—to show that she loves them SO MUCH。💕 The airy water-colored illustrations are refreshing—all the Lola Dutch bends over backwards cheering up her grumpy, anthropomorphic friends, solidifying the anti-feminist notion that young girls should be raised to please ✨✨But seriously, the third installment in the Wrights’ Lola Dutch series is a super sweet tribute to friendship。 When Lola realizes that none of her friends are in good spirits, she finds thoughtful ways—á la Gary Chapman’s 5 love languages—to show that she loves them SO MUCH。💕 The airy water-colored illustrations are refreshing—all the holiday spirit without the cliched red and pink palette—and bring home the book’s message of making others feel loved。 🎨 Include this one in your Valentine reading repertoire。 。。。more

I enjoyed this sweet book about friendship。 I loved it more when I realized that it is based on the 5 love languages。 I want to reread it over and over with my children as a reminder。 The illustrations were pretty, too。

I read this book right away to my daughter when it arrived。 We loved it。 And Lola。There are many ways to show and share your love。 Lola wants to help her friends feel loved in the best way for each of them。 Wise, exuberant Lola。
